The Blizzard of 2010 Made the History Books…

As we now go into the 2nd blizzard with 20 inches expected, one thing is for sure, our children will never forget the blizzards of 2010. This may not happen for another century and we and our children were there.  It is in God’s hands, we do not control the weather.  It is our will, the Lord willing to be ready to go Sunday. You may find snow stacked over 20 feet high but we will do our best to be prepared. I do not ever recall missing two Sundays in a row due to snow but it is now history.

Speaking of history, I have begun writing my 2nd book on the history of the church. I t will entail the years 2000-2010. I hope to have it ready for the church by Christmas 2010.

Tune in tomorrow to see if church is canceled due to the snow that is coming down now.

Jerry and Dianne Myers

While putting up an entertainment center, both Jerry and Dianne were injured.  Jerry cut his leg and Dianne broke her leg along with other minor injuries.  The Myers are out of the hospital and home but are in a lot of pain.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Snow Schedule and Youth Pastor Prospect Update…

Snow is in the forecast as you know!  If the snow causes us to cancel the 9:3o service on Sunday, we will be having the 11:00 service with no Sunday School.  So, plan on coming if you are able!  We will worship all together and have a wonderful time with our Lord!

On Sunday, our Youth Pastor Prospect, Tyler Holder, was going to spend time with us.  Due to the amount of snow we are expecting, we plan to postpone this for several weeks.  Stay tuned to your bulletins, the website and this blog to find out when Tyler and his wife will be joining us.

As always, to find out about any cancellations during the week or weekend, you can contact our cancellation line by calling 410-833-7220 and following the automated system, or by going to our website, www.NorthwestBaptistMD.org.  All cancellations will be posted as soon as the decision is made.

Enjoy the snow!!

Vickie Dowling Update…

Vickie Dowling is now recovering from having all 5 toes taken off on her left leg.  She would really like a visit.  Vickie is in N.W. Hosp and will be there for 2 more weeks.

Bonny Dudash

Bonny Dudash’s father died last night. He was 91. There will be no viewing and a memorial service has not yet been planned. Keep Bonnie in your prayers and you may want to send a card or see if there are any needs..

Hospital Update

Vickie Dowling is still in Northwest hospital as well as  Megan Miles. Megan will go home Friday.

Sue Roberson is in a hospital in Pa, hopefully Sue will be home friday.

Roy Driever is in the Veteran’s Hospital.

Please keep these three ladies and one gentleman in your prayers this week.

This past Friday night and Saturday until noon 16 of our men went on a deacons retreat. Taught by Dr. Joel Rainey,  it was a wonderful weekend and we all grew a lot.  Several of the men who attended were deacon candidates and we look forward to having them on board soon. The fellowship was priceless as well and we had a great time sitting up late in the lodge, drinking coffee and some of us eating ice cream.

Dr. Rainey did a Bible Study on what a deacon is and then we spent Saturday talking about culture shifts. Did you know that in 1920 the Southern Baptist Convention voted at their convention to condemn the use of pianos in church because they were used in bars?   Isn’t it great that someone stepped up some time later and said we can use this for the glory of God as well.  Sound like anything today?

Whats next on Sundays…

I will complete the book of Hebrews on Feb.7th.   From here we will take the books of James, 1 and 2  Peter, 1  John,
2 John and 3rd John.

Tuesday, January 19th

Men’s ministry and fraternity got off to a great start with 30 men attending. They will now break into small groups and meet on  the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month.

15 new members  completed the new members class this Sunday

Deacons retreat – We leave this Friday from the church at 330 pm for those going together. Others are going on their own. We have 5 new men going to be trained and hopefully ordained afterwards.  I’ll have pictures next week.
